Even though Tanazania is considered the Safari Capital of East Africa, there is one man-made gem worth you visiting also, to see what the community has to offer. At the bottom of Mt. Meru in northern Tanzania, Arusha city is the headquarters of the East African Community and one of the most important tourist centres in East Africa; acting as the gateway to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and the iconic snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro. Arusha has a distinct central district (CBD) that is still mainly low rise with some scattered medium rise buildings. There are great markets, many traditional, where you can pick up some terrific one-off items and gifts. The well maintained ‘Clock Tower Roundabout’ is a local feature and great way to get your bearings. And as a tourist centre, Arusha city offers many luxurious hotels and is conveniently served by Kilimanjaro International Airport.
